No, you understood it right.
Ben asked me in comment 11 of the referred bug to use the check.
When cross-compiling for MSWindows wine could be used for checking I guess.
It might also be a good idea to have a regression.sps or so which can run
several tests and check the results. This could even help when an end-user
encounters a problem.
This all seems not urgent to me as I am building without check for years now.
But if it is easy to implement it could be useful.
Maybe somebody of the users can build a regression syntax file.
