Puzzling.  All I ever do is run gnulib-tool, and it's figured out that
other files need to be removed.  I wonder why that one wasn't.

    Then, I'd apply the second patch below to not depend on `echo'
    supporting `-e', 

Fair enough.  (I actually inherited that target, but it seemed
reasonable to leave in.)
