I'm not in charge of the filesystem here; there is a case-sensitive (and fully POSIX-compliant) variant of HFS+ called HFSX. However, since regular HFS+ is the default, I have to deal with problems that arise.
Besides, the problem exists on other filesystems; it just isn't as obvious.
