Hm... This is haunting me... ;-)
It would probably be a good idea to make the switch (as you suggest).
It'll break many things, it will surprise many users, etc.
Yet, it is probably ther cleaner solution. I dunno...
Please give me some days to think about it (I'm currently traveling,
so I'm not able to commit any changes in te next days).
