That change was released just a few months ago.  So let's ask the
users whether they like it.

Making the change was the potentially confusing step.

We must be ready to reverse a change if people prefer the old way.
Any argument which leads to the conclusion that we should be
reluctant to do that is a reductio ad absurdam.

If the users like this change, we should keep it.  If they don't, we
should revert it.

Would someone be willing to run a poll about this?
