I didn't say he did.  I didn't say he's done
anything wrong.  I'm not familiar with just
what's been done in this regard.

My point is general: some interactions should
not go through the minibuffer.  `read-key' is
one such, Isearch is another (apart from `M-e').
If this thread is about yet another then the
general remark might apply here as well.

If some "technical reasons" make it imperative
to use the minibuffer, so be it.

In that case, there's apparently no way to
make the change optional (nothing like defvar
`y-or-n-p-use-read-key' is possible).  And in
that case there's no need for this thread, the
answer in that case would be "can't be done".
