Oh god, that's almost a complete other can of worms.

I agree though. 

I think consensus is basically that AFFS should have:

 - an announcement list (this is uncontentious)
 - a separate discussion list for AFFS activity (this is contentious)

Given that I will be the person setting them up, I will announce (in a
new thread, I'm afraid) when they're ready simultaneously with changing
the website, etc. Don't expect it for a few days though.
