To that end I used my company mobile phone number to test it with...

It appears to be a service similar to the free lycos service, which  has
these features:

- The message comes from some random number (10233)
- The sender address is at the start of the body of the text message

The clickatell service I described, although costing 3p a shot, is a proper
SMS sending service as messages are indistinguishable from a normal text
message.
