Thanks Vince. I will take a look at the scripts that run the COBOL85 Tests to see if they can be tweaked to delete the data files prior to each run. It's not a priority at the moment so long as the "issue" is recognised / documented. The effect is this: 1. Suppose $COB_FILE_PATH = "/tmp" 2. Run the COBOL85 tests and get a clean test. 3. Make clean and re-run the tests and it is alarming to get a load of failures that were not there on the first run. 4. Manually delete the files in "/tmp". 5. Redo step 4 and bingo! Tests pass again.
It's OBVIOUS with hind-sight - but v. confusing to the novice.
NOTE: if the data-files are left "un-pathed", then because the scripts do delete and re-create each directory, the problem doesn't arise.
