So it *is* supposed to work then in all cases either via
  bind -x "${some_bind_minus_X_line}"
or printf '%q' an eval.

Right?


Sadly, even if the save&restore of the bindings can be made to work
with that fix, it seems that from what Koichi pointed out in his mail,
my whole goal may still be unfeasible. :-(
