Help w/ Host Authentication for Remote Copy |

Hello, I've read through the FAQ as well as the tips and tricks directory
at the main CFengine site but cannot find a specific reference to my
problem.
I've encountered a problem where if I comment out the IP address entry for
my hostname in /etc/hosts, cfagent is able to process the remote file copy
OK.
If I uncomment it again, it complains about host authentication and asks
if I forgot the domain name.
When the error messages are reported, are they reported from the point of
view of the client or the master?
If I executed cfkey before commenting out the host from /etc/hosts, does
it have a bearing on the public key that's been generated?
Does CFengine try to depend upon DNS first, and then files such as
/etc/hosts?
