It takes some effort to do a custom import of octave historical data, but it will be worth the effort if the Octave community can know about Nabble and use it. the best way is to link from Octave to the Nabble mirror. Can you do that?

By the way, regarding this thread on "google groups and Usenet" - I find it much easier to follow the discussion in a threaded interface on Nabble: http://www.nabble.com/google-groups-and-Usenet-t290856.html#a818441 - it shows who is responding to who with regard to what.
