which OS are you running on? (not sure that xemacs still means you are on 
Unix.) Are you running on both windows and Unix?

It looks like at some level (either the client or the server) you are running 
CVSNT, and may need to ask on their mailing lists.

Are you trying to share a sandbox between windows and Unix?
(I think that is generally a BAD idea.)
