I am using NIS though for network authentication, could that possibly be the problem? My old accounts work while on NIS just fine, though it was with an older build.
if the system is configured for NIS is the jail also correctly configured so it will find the account information correctly? Remember that executables inside the jail cannot read config files from the real system!
