I am using NISthough for network authentication, could that possibly be the problem? My old accounts work while on NIS just fine, though it was with an olderbuild.if the system is configured for NIS is the jail also correctly configured so it will find the account information correctly? Remember that executables inside the jail cannot read config files from the real system! Olivier _______________________________________________The account I am testing with is not part of the NIS users and the previous accounts are not either, they were just created locally on the system and not added to the NIS setup. Could it be something else causing the problem? I don't think I mentioned my system before but I am using Centos5(RHEL5).are the other jails installed on the same system? what are the differences between those jails? (try with diff -u /workingjail /newjail)Olivier
