The license that OpenSolaris is released under is not compatible with
the GNU GPL. GNU/Hurd on Mach is quite usable, GNU/Hurd on L4 is
still in its infancy. And surley not everyone knows that multiple
servers running on a micro-kernel have performace issues (benchmarks
show that they can be as fast, or faster than monolithic systems), and
even if they did, the flexibility that this gives is worth the
performance penalty.
