Dan will have to test this as we don't have AIX on IA64 here. He did
run the testsuite with GCC and xlC (IBM's C compiler) and it worked
with his patch. Dunno if he ran it on IA64 and the code in question
wasn't affected by the patch. Looking at it though it would seem you
are correct.
