Comment #52 on issue 3330 by address@hidden: bracketify-stencil moves grob's refpoint
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3330Regarding the regtest differences: it would be hard to argue that any of the changes is not an improvement. bar-lines.ly does not show a visible change, but some of its metrics have changed somewhere. I don't consider this worrisome as such.
Note that the regtests only show images where grobs are positioned differently. Most particular, top level markups don't consist of grobs, so a significant number of differences even in the regtests does not appear. I'll make a list shortly.
The latest iteration submitted to review does not contain the conversion rule for \vspace -> \combine \null \vspace. I am not fond of that conversion rule, but I don't really think a separate non-just-space \vspace would warrant a control sequence of its own. The actual reason the conversion rule was omitted is technical: it needed to get refactored into a separate version-specific rule after the last release and I did not have the time to do it.
I am also a bit fuzzy about what dimensions \line { } should have: if it should be fully spaced vertically, it needs both an X and a Y extent.
