Hello.

As a small team of 10 developers, we can't maintain packages for all distributions.

In the past, we tried to provide and maintain packages, but we ran into many troubles (with QT, and so on), so we decided to focus on development, instead of packaging.

Using Appimage has some drawbacks, but it really speeds up and simplify delivery, and is usable on almost all GNU/Linux distribution.

We develop and support Flexisip (our SIP proxy), Linphone (MacOS, Windows, GNU/Linux, Android, IOS, embedded...), all the media and SIP stack, we do provide customer support, custom developments, and rebrandings...

This is really a lot of work, so we are in touch with Debian packagers to help them upgrade Linphone in official repositories, instead of package and host ourselves.
Actually, the latest version is in the testing repository. You can try it if you want.

We do understand your concerns, and we will try to fix the autostart issue.

Is there a specific reason why you don't provide at least Debs and RPMs, which probably cover 3/4th of the Linux Desktop Installations and are much easier to install and less wasteful of RAM and disk space than AppImage?

Maybe someone on this list is building "unofficial" debs and could help me out?
