SSL (https) is a configure-script (build-time) option.
The version message shows whether lynx is built with OpenSSL (or even
GNUTLS). For instance:
Lynx Version 2.8.8dev.9 (12 Jun 2011)
libwww-FM 2.14, SSL-MM 1.4.1, OpenSSL 0.9.8g, ncurses 5.9.20120121(wide)
Built on linux-gnu Jan 16 2012 20:10:32
