Hello
I saw a mention to Lzip in Linux-Libre mailing-list and decided to give it a
try in my Debian Testing system. I donwloaded the source and compiled it
successfully, as you can see:
--------8<--------
lunix-bruno:/usr/src/lzip-1.5# ./configure --prefix=/usr
creating config.status
creating Makefile
VPATH = .
prefix = /usr
exec_prefix = $(prefix)
bindir = $(exec_prefix)/bin
datadir = $(prefix)/share
infodir = $(datadir)/info
mandir = $(datadir)/man
sysconfdir = $(prefix)/etc
CC = gcc
CXX = g++
CPPFLAGS =
CFLAGS = -Wall -W -O2
CXXFLAGS = -Wall -W -O2
LDFLAGS =
OK. Now you can run make.
lunix-bruno:/usr/src/lzip-1.5# make; make install
g++ -Wall -W -O2 -c -o arg_parser.o arg_parser.cc
g++ -Wall -W -O2 -c -o decoder.o decoder.cc

g++ -Wall -W -O2 -DPROGVERSION=\"1.5\" -c -o main.o main.cc

g++ -Wall -W -O2 -DPROGVERSION=\"1.5\" -c -o lziprecover.o lziprecover.cc

I thought lzip would automagically integrate with file-roller, the gnome
utility for compressing and decompressing files, but it didn't. That is
probably not the intended behaviour, but could it be done? If so, how?
