Can a MONIT script accept arguments?

I notice in the examples that the IP address is hardcoded.
For example,
If failed host 192.168.1.100 port 8080 protocol http
Can the IP address be parametized, or must it remain hardcoded?
We don't want to have to change the script when hardware is swapped out.
