There was no  lead up to it,  that's why I didn't  include it---and also
the reason why I was trying out that MH_TEST_NOCLEANUP variable; here is
what is output to my terminal:

PASS: test/mhshow/test-binary
first named test failure: replacement character in parameter value
FAIL: test/mhshow/test-charset
PASS: test/mhshow/test-cte-binary
PASS: test/mhshow/test-msg-buffer-boundaries
PASS: test/mhshow/test-qp

I'm going to experiment some more to see where the output is going.
