Follow-up Comment #17, bug #44380 (project octave):
Although you may be running Octave on a 64-bit system, the Windows version
distributed from gnu.org is a 32-bit application, with 32-bit pointers. So
the part of the documentation you are quoting doesn't apply. I suppose this
could be a bit clearer. In the future, we will probably be distributing a
64-bit applicatino with 32-bit integers for indexing as is the norm on Linux
systems now. You are, of course, free to build your own 64-bit build. If
you'd like to see this happen faster, then contact me privately for commercial
support options.
