Follow-up Comment #5, bug #56957 (project octave): Octave version 4.4.1 is quite old and no longer supported. The easiest thing to do would be to see if your distribution has a more recent version of Octave available as a package. If you want to compile Octave from source code that is always possible, but you will need to make sure you have the correct tools and libraries installed before starting that process.
