Follow-up Comment #15, bug #60786 (project octave):

Finished step #2, better error reporting, by moving call to EIG outside of
try/catch block in this cset:

Interestingly, there was only one case of this that needed to be fixed.  It
looks like an accident that xpow (double, Matrix) was the only case where this
code pattern was used.
