Follow-up Comment #2:
This error has been fixed in the meantime in the optim package.
Unfortunately, it didn't make it in time for the release of Octave 7.1.0 for
Windows.
Octave for Windows version 7.2.0 will bundle an updated version of that
package.
In the meantime, you could update to the fixed version of the package by
running `pkg update optim` in Octave.
