Follow-up Comment #11, bug #62352 (project octave):
Is there an ini file after you have been running the version from octave? If
not, could you open the preferences dialog, close it by "OK" and check again
if there is an ini file?
If yes, try to reinstall the "normal" octave version and see if it normally
starts with the existing ini file.
