Follow-up Comment #7, bug #63548 (project octave):
sorry for the rapid fire comments.
On my ubuntu VM, Octave 8.0.1 (hg id: ccbf38427774) does the same thing.
restarting the GUI and attempting to open the file test file from my comment
#1 crashes octave with a:
octave exited with signal 11 (i believe that's a segfault?)
