Follow-up Comment #14, bug #63848 (project octave):

since blocking moves but doesn't completely eliminate where you hit the
precision limit, i'd suggest we keep this one just about mean, implement the
'process as double' approach for singles now that patch 10341 has pushed, and
then refocus 61143 on sum routines.
