Follow-up Comment #7, task #15419 (project octave):
I suppose there's little harm in already starting with the current io repo.
Any mods can easily be merged.
FTR you mentioned Apache POI; TTBOMK the core devs, and perhaps several
contributors, are reluctant to introduce dependencies on Java into core
Octave. So such dependencies will have to live in the io package for the time
being.
