I've just been playing with a whole bunch of components with ParaGUI and
wondering (since this IS a gui-type package) has anyone else got a good
approach to running child applications?
(don't worry about the display :)
Some updates from what I've worked with lately:
- pgmpeg doesn't link (even with CVS updates) on my system for some
reason. So I rewrote a version that wasn't decended from the MPEG class.
Anyone want a slight variation of pgmpeg for current (CVS) paragui?
Also it's got added 'slot' support for some functions already...
- has anyone gotten the PG_Menu object to work? *scratches head*
(anything I've tried has crashed to date)
- anyone tried compiling paragui under glSDL? Just curious...
SDL_OPENGLBLIT doesn't seem to exist anymore...
- Am playing with the idea of using XMLRPC to run child applications under
*generic* frontend. ParaGUI is my current model as some of my QT/KDE code
broke in unexplainable ways.... At this point have an operational
XMLRPC/http server running in a thread. Haven't done up access to the
main system yet though beyond a couple small test functions.
>From following some of the past discussions about XML and components
sounds like there's already some interest in -something- related to this?
note of course a model like this is dramatically unsecure - but it IS fun :)
the current paragui CVS's "slot" system makes writing callbacks from
XMLRPC into system quite a lot easier btw :)
G'day, eh? :)
