OK. But it's still something I've never observed. I would need more
information, about your local host, the remote host, what happened
during handshaking, the Tramp version, andandand.
Best would be you submit a bug report via "M-x tramp-submit-bug". This
would provide the needed information. Please append also the buffers
*tramp/ssh bob* and *debug tramp/ssh bob*. The following settings
would be helpful:
(setq tramp-debug-buffer t
tramp-verbose 10)
Just one additionalquestion: does it happen only when the remote
filesystem is FAT32?
