With a little bit of effort it should be possible to get a native Windows
DLL for Aspell using Gcc that does not require any Cygwin wrappers.  This
DLL (if compiled correctly) should be able to used by any other windows
applications, including those compiled with VC++.  I just don't have the
time to maintain it.  If anyone wishes to maintain one I will be more
than willing to help.

With a lot more effort it is also possible to get it to compile with VC++ 
but I personally see little value in that.
