[avr-gcc-list] Debugging of AVR GCC output?

Hello,

Are there some free source-level simulators/debuggers out there which
understand the code produced by avr-gvv + binutils?

I tried AVR Studio 3.21:

I have applied the avrobj patch to the current CVS snapshot of binutils.
Afterwards avr-objcopy understands the -O avrobj option, but AVR Studio
complains that it cannot open the source and after that "Invalid Nordic
Format".

Is there a way to get the gdb from CVS targeted to avr? (I tried the
same way as binutils and gcc, but configure failed)
