A userid on axiom-developer.org is only necessary if you want to
set up your own (virtual) website on axiom-developer.org or to
use the axiom-developer.org server to do development. But it
isn't necessary just to upload files - that is exactly what the
Axiom Portal site is for. Using the portal is much easier than
creating a new web site from scratch.

But if any Axiom developer wants to set up their own website,
I'm all for that too.

To use the Axiom portal for uploading files, just log in to

http://portal.axiom-developer.org

using the user id and password that you chose when you registered.
If you haven't already registered yet then just click 'join' and
chose a new user id and password.

After logging in, click on 'my folder' and then 'add a new item'.
For pdf and dvi files choose the type 'file'. Click 'Browse...'
and select the file on your local system that you want to upload.
Click 'Open', fill in a title, and a description and hit 'Save'.

That's all there is to it. Very easy. Anybody can do it.

There's a lot more you can do with the Axiom Portal but you
don't have to learn it all right away. And I would be very
pleased to answer any questions you have about it. Right now,
in spite of the fact that nearly 70 people have registered to
use the Axiom Portal web site, I think it's potential still
remains quite under utilized.

If for some reason you prefer to work on the Axiom Wiki site
instead of the portal, then it is also very easy to upload files
there. Click 'edit' and look for the 'Upload' box at the bottom
of the page. Use 'Browse...' the same way as on the portal.

For working files and experiments related to Units on Axiom
you can use the page:

http://wiki.axiom-developer.org/SandBoxUnitsAndDimensions

Because it is SandBox, no email notices of changes to the page
will be broadcast to the list.

Once you have something you want to make permanent and advertise
it to others you can do exactly the same thing with the page:

http://wiki.axiom-developer.org/UnitsAndDimensions

Changes made here (including uploaded files) *will* generate
notices to the axiom-developer email list.

Regards,
Bill Page.
