Hm, I saw in your first message that you are using Ghostscript 8.71.
And I seem to remember that there have been problems with this release.
Perhaps you could check with an older release?  (Probably you are also
running an older release on your other computer.)

Either this was introduced by the Aquamacs people (I'd find it quite
rude, if it could be disabled easily) or you enabled the option
"Correlate I/O" in the menu "Command --> TeXing options".
