I do have GNU coreutils, correct. But a recent version.
I "only" have them because I was having trouble tracking down something else.
  (en route to gcc/make check)
I probably don't need them.

Similarly I try to build/install the minimum, but..

% type cp
cp is a tracked alias for /home/jayk/bin/cp

% cp --version
cp (GNU coreutils) 8.5
