    I'm sure I've missed some real bug reports.

FWIW, I send myself a report every day of the supposed spam that my
filter (which I wrote for myself based on Paul Graham's "A Plan for
Spam") found.  It's pretty good, but every once a while a real message
shows up.

    Perhaps mailman can be configured to allow mail from known senders,
    even if they're not subscribers.  That would be nice.

Happily, it can and will be.  Real posters can be whitelisted so that
future mail from them will not need approval.  (There is a theoretical
chance of spam being forged as coming from them and thus getting onto
the list, but (a) that's never happened to me, and (b) even if it did so
what, and (c) the whitelisting can be easily revoked.)
