    When will this script be introduced?  

1) I've been hearing about this supposed new version of the ftp-upload
   script for a couple months now.  I wouldn't look for it tomorrow.
   Who knows ...

2) Stepan, are you sure they said we'd now be able to really replace files?

   At one point Bradley talked about some scheme whereby files would get
   automatically renamed, so that uploading config.guess would result in
   config.guess.YYYYMMDD, and config.guess would be a symlink to the
   dated version.  (Or something like that.)  This sounded pretty
   ugly to me ...
