If the patches aren't overly complex, maybe better to go ahead and add
them anyway while we await the next release.  Can you post them to the
list so I can take a look?

I had read that and actually tried to build the latest commit but it
failed for me as well.  At that point I was getting tired and cranky so
I didn't dig too much into it and I can't remember exactly what went
wrong.  I'll try again.

And anyway, it's officially one of my jobs with GNU to
pester^H^H^H^H^H^H encourage maintainers to make new releases.  I'll
drop him a note.
