OK, I'll try again. What BSD, though? I've tried
cygwin and MinGW builds on windows.

In the meanwhile, let me say that the autoconf build
on Cygwin doesn't have the srfi-1 problem I mentioned
(csi -R srfi-1 doesn't work) and apparently works
perfectly.
