Hello,

possible idea for circle: backup

Each participant would designate s MB to be backed up, and at the same
time volunteer k*s MB for others' backup (k>1). The backup would be
encrypted, and stored RAID-like on a number of other participants'
machines.

(The keys would have to be burned on CD and stored in the bank or
something.)


At present, it's just a half-baked idea; but it'd present a sensible
business use of circle, moreover one that is otherwise often neglected
(and, for that matter, difficult/expensive to do).


Indeed, one can even think of that kind of thing as primary storage:
sort of like the MS idea that data will be "out there on the net", but
instead of being on MS servers, they would be on all other people's
machines. However, it'd probably be unnecessarily slow for everyday use.
