About GPL-with-exception being the same as GPL wrt distribution, chris

Not good. One of the things that excited me about classpathx javamail was
that it was lgpl, not gpl. Is there any likelihood this decision will be
reconsidered anytime soon?
You definitely should change the page at
http://www.gnu.org/software/classpathx/. It still says LGPL. So does
http://gnucvs.vlsm.org/software/classpathx/javamail/javamail.html.
Interestingly, the GNU page on Various Licenses and Comments about Them
at http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html doesn't even mention
GPL-with-exception.
Out of curiosity what if the code isn't distributed? In other words, if
it is only used in house? Most people seem to interpret gpl to mean that
if you don't distribute the software, that you can use gpl code as you
want. So what's the point of the "exception"?
