I introduced the term "Chord Symbols" in Denemo as a synonym for "Fake
Chords", LilyPond seems just to call them "Chord Names"
http://www.lilypond.org/doc/v2.16/Documentation/notation/chord-notation

well, it's more straightforward
'fake chords' seem to imply something more specific...

chord symbols or chord names are just fine IMHO

palette was the name in use in Denemo starting 10 years or so ago, I
just perpetuated it,

ok, then it was never included in the .pot template because it's the first time I have to translate it :-)

I am not sure if there is a more up-to-date English
name in the world of graphical user interfaces. And I'm not sure what
"panel" would mean today in this context. "Panel" refers in ordinary
English to a (usually flat, rectangular) piece of solid material for
enclosing something or a similar piece erected to display things on its
surface. If there is a now well-established English term for these boxes
of button widgets then we should perhaps change Denemo to use the new
terminology.

I think that Frescobaldi, for example, uses this term to indicate the dockable elements, such as the Midi player, the lilypond output, the quick insert, etc.

??? what is removed???

I can see this (in the new command manager):

Avoids slur colliding with accidental (Print)
Location: Object Menu->Notes/Rests->Slurs
Internal Name: AvoidSlurAccidentalCollision

Sorry, this is the full string:
#: ../actions/menus/ObjectMenu/NotesRests/Slurs/AvoidSlurAccidentalCollision.scm:7
msgid "Slur/Accidental avoidance removed"

where does this come from?

#: ../actions/menus/ObjectMenu/NotesRests/Slurs/AvoidSlurAccidentalCollision.scm:14
msgid ""
"Use only on a slur start to make the slur avoid accidentals on following "
"notes"
