Hi,
I think you are right and I should stop complaining, I do not even
spend time to work on GNUstep, so I am merely qualified to do so.
Besides I always was an advocate of the project, so I do not believe I
am not ranting as you said. It's just that my my frustrations are due
to the fact that although many talented programmers worked on this
project for almost a decade it did not live up the (my?) expectations
until now. And since I spent some time on GNUstep related stuff I allow
myself to be a little frustrated... :-)
But to remain at least a little on-topic allow me to ask this question
(as a simple user resp. programmer who needs to decide whether to use
it or not): where will the GNUstep project be within 12 months (which
will be more or less GUI 1.0)? What is the (realistic) roadmap for the
GNUstep project anyway?
Thanks,
-Phil

I was referring to the problems which arise when trying to integrate
different desktops/APIs, the copy 'n paste problem was just one
example. As I do currently not run the very latest GNUstep code on my
machine (I apologise...) it might be true that this is not an issue
anymore, but eg. cutting/pasting normal text from a Gnome app (such
as gedit) into a GNUstep app fails to work - at least on my machine.
To quote a now infamous statement: Works on my machine. Please update
your GNUstep and try yourself.
Anyway, there are other examples, such as drag 'n drop across apps
written using different technologies.
Yes, this is still broken and will be for a long time until Wim takes
up this issue again.
As there are still enough pieces of GNUstep that don't work, would you
mind to complain about them, instead of complaining about the few that
we did get running?
This is nothing specific with you Phil, I am just annoyed about most
of the postings in this mailing list and the time I waste every day
reading them. Time I otherwise would spend on fixing bugs.
Fred
