It's nothing specific to windows. You should just never mix a release 
-base with a cvs -GUI, or vice versa. It can potentially cause all sorts 
of nasty problems, under any OS on any platform.

Well I would love to see this happen, it would bring a lot of potential 
macheads who have voiced their interest in developing the win32 backend 
but who do not want to go through the hell of installing all this crap 
under win32 which is required to make GNUstep work there with the GUI 
currently.

the gdomap dependency can be removed for GNUstep by setting a default. 
This is thanks to Alexander Malmberg's work, and maybe we could look into 
enabling it by default under win32 only. Alex?
