Just a comment, the tool `tzconfig' can be used to configure the
timezone: http://dragora.org/en/files/2x/menutools.html

Another comment, the xdm service is not enabled (activated) by default.
Some firmwares (blobs) can be missing in linux-libre. Visit
http://www.h-node.org and http://www.gnu.org/software/linux-libre,
is a good start to see what hardware is supported.
