In fact, I tested today several front-ends like k3b, gnomebaker, graveman, or nautilus-cdburner and I was even unable to blank a CD-RW disk... :-/ Could you please tell me : - if it is supposed to work ?Yes, and I've just verified it does work here (dvdrtools 0.3.1, tried k3b 0.12.13 and cdbakeoven 2.0-beta2) What happens if you try? Maybe the frontends hardcode the cdrecord file name (I do have a cdrecord is a symlink to dvdrecord here - maybe you don't have that and didn't tell the frontends to run dvdrecord?)...
FWIW, I've just tried k3b here - lots of messages advising me to upgrade to cdrtools 2, then a message that cdrdao is missing (true), but I tried anyway - error mesages show drive doesn't support TAO, and DAO returns an unknown error (255). That was with 0.12.10, then I saw you had tried a newer version, so tried 0.12.14 - the same failure.
Yes, I do have a cdrecord symlink, and yes, dvdrecord compiles nicely here (amd64, also ppc64 with both -m32 and -m64, unlike cdrtools) and seems to work fine when called from the command line [for both of which, many thanks!].
The only reference to cdrdao in the 0.3.1 tarball is comments in video/makecd - did it used to be part of cdrtools ?
