Like I said, I firmly believe that most Emacs users have many defaults
overridden by customizations.  Two popular timers that come to my mind
are display-time and jit-stealth.

??? Who said I'm against it?  I just think that this particular change
will have almost no effect on Emacs CPU usage in any real-life
session.
